Sharon Feder

Sharon Feder is a performer, director and creator of physical theatre and mixed-media performance and installation art. A Canadian artist dedicated to the development of alternative and interdisciplinary performance practice, Sharon Feder creates individually and in collaboration, in Canada and internationally, with artists of different fields and from various backgrounds. Sharon’s work reflects not only a dedication to the development of performance practice, but also a rigorous investigation of the site of convergence of different artistic forms: theatre, video, film, installation, new media, and other sound and image technologies. In 2005, Sharon created SoundMoves a conceptual platform for her artistic projects. Sharon is an active member of Cassandra Project in Canada, a collaborative artists of Paris-based company Pantheatre, and a new member of Nomadic Collaborations.

In February, Sharon curated and organized “Festival Improbable”, three days of improvisation at the Fonderie de Bagnolet with over thirty artists from theatre, dance, music, video and visual arts. Together with video, sound and performance artist she has directed and performed “InsideOut 1/2/3” a series of performances in real-time audio-visual environments. Her second full length solo performance “Nostalgia Trip Tic” toured in Canada the summer of 2005 to critical acclaim.

Sharon has had the honour of receiving financial support and recognition for her artistic projects in Canada and abroad from, Canada Council for the Arts, the BC Arts Council, HRDC (Human Resources Development Canada), and the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris.
