Nomadic Collaborations
Sharon Baker |
|||||||
Sharon Baker studied at St Martins College and Middlesex University. Her projects always include a sculptural element although she works in installation, performance, video and photography. She uses mundane or familiar objects in unexpected ways to explore the role of the mind and the senses in our understanding of the world. The consequence of this investigation is often an intimate experience for the viewer. She has had numerous shows, including ‘While U Wait’ at the MOT gallery, ‘OUT!’ At the Candid gallery and several solo performances including ‘Seeing Red’, and ‘Nothing Matters’. Her performance of ‘eat me!’ where she invited the audience to eat a bread cast of her body gained wide critical acclaim and publicity. It was performed most recently at the Thames Festival 2006. She won the Ray Finnis award while at college, and has been invited to work with many arts organisations on installation and performance based projects.
